Is Your Marketing Plan Up To Date?

You have heard the expression, “You don’t plan to fail.  You fail to plan.”  So true.  When you started your business you wrote out a Business Plan.  Did you also write a Marketing Plan?  You should have.  And you should update it regularly.  Here are a few things to consider:

1 – Your client

Who is your dream client?  How old are they?  Where do they live?  What do they do?  What magazines do they read?  Where do they shop?  These things are all important as they will give you an idea of who your target group is and how to market to them.

2 – Your product

What kind of person will use your product or service?  How can your product change in order to match your target group?

3 – Your advertising dollars

What is your budget for advertising?  Where is it best spent to reach your target group?

These are just the initial basics for a Marketing Plan, but it is somewhere to start.  Keep in mind your target group can change over the years.  As the economy changes the population needs different products or services, or your clients may use the same products but in a different way.  You, as a business owner, need to stay on top of your Marketing Plan to ensure you know your target market, how they think, and how it is best to reach them.  Don’t fail to plan.  With a little work you can increase sales and grow your business to new heights.
